The Judge's distinctive qualifications stem from her early work in disability services at the University of Cincinnati. Law Enforcement
With over eight years as a boots-on-the-ground Neighborhood Police Officer, Judge Clark Newberry gained a pragmatic, real-world lens for applying legal principles. This experience developed her compassion and understanding for people, giving her a tangible grasp of how the law affects individuals and communities. This background has made the former officer a qualified, informed and exceptionally well-rounded Judge.
As an Attorney
Judge Clark Newberry brought extensive experience as a trial attorney and mediator. She was licensed in Nevada and California, admitted to the U.S. District Court (District of Nevada, Southern District of California), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Her comprehensive mediation work included serving with the State of Nevada Foreclosure Mediation Program (2009–2017) and its successor program administered by the Eighth Judicial District Court (2017 until her election to Department 21). She also mediated for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Nevada (2015–2019), and worked as a private arbitrator and mediator.
Throughout her legal career, Judge Clark Newberry was dedicated to pro bono service with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and Nevada Legal Services. She frequently shared her expertise by providing education to professional organizations and attorneys nationwide.
